C.B.F. at The University of Toledo, Ohio

Campus Bible Fellowship has been at the University of Toledo for about ten years. It is an outreach of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Toledo. We have an office on campus in the Student Union that we share with other student organizations. The office is a great place for the students to hang out for lunch and between classes. We meet together weekly on Wednesday nights for a time of worship through singing and studying the Word of God. Our time together usually lasts about an hour, and then we have homemade cookies and pop for a snack that members from Emmanuel Baptist Church provide for us each week. We have between 45-60 students out each week with new visitors almost every week as well. Bible study on Wednesday nights

The ministry here at the university has been great this year!! We strategically started the school year with an ice cream survey on campus. At that time we surveyed 250 students, gave out ice cream bars and learned about their religious beliefs. This gave us lots of contacts. Many students were invited to join us for our first study on campus that Wednesday. Ice Cream Survey

One student named Jennifer filled out a survey and was invited to join us on Wednesday, which she did. The following evening a student Ashley, who herself is only six months old in the Lord, and I went to visit Jennifer as Jennifer well as other students. Jennifer was so excited that we had come for a visit and had brought her a care package, that she hugged both of us. Ashley asked her if she knew the Lord, and Jennifer thought she did. She was interested in starting a Bible study; so Jennifer and I met for about three weeks. Jennifer heard the gospel at the CBF Bible studies, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and the personal Bible study. Three weeks later she trusted in Jesus as her personal Savior, understanding that it was not what she could do that would get her to heaven, but trusting in what Jesus had done on the cross. To God be the Glory! It is very exciting to see God's hand in the ministry here, and we are rejoicing in the other five salvations since September!

This school year we began an international ministry as well. The two national groups that we primarily minister to are Chinese and Indian.

I, the CBF missionary, have had a Bible study with several Chinese women for the last nine months. One of them recently told me that she has accepted the Lord as her Savior! That is very exciting news.

Our church has encouraged its members to adopt foreign students. In December we invited Chinese students, along with some church members that had adopted students, to the matinee performance of our Christmas Musicale at Emmanuel. Following the program, we took them out for a Chinese dinner.

That evening we had students from India attend the evening performance, followed by a dinner with their native food. It was such a great opportunity for them to hear the gospel presented. Most of them had never been in a church before, and almost all of them accepted a packet of information that shared the truths of God's love and salvation and the gospel of John in writing!

God is doing some great things here in Toledo, and I am thrilled to be a part of it!!

Rejoicing in Christ,
