C.B.F. at Florida International University

Summer classes have ended here at Florida International University (F.I.U.), and test cramming for final exams was part of the scenario. Despite the intensity of the studies, many made the time during the summer to come to the group studies, continue their personal Bible studies with us, and even attend a few outings. In many respects the summer marches on much like the traditional academic year. Though student population is down during the summer, our group studies have actually been well attended and frequently we saw 17-20 come each week.

Our focal study point during the summer months was being "Changed Into His Image," a study written by Jim Berg. The students enjoyed the look into this topic and we have had some good discussions around God's Word. Our prayer is that by scratching the surface of this important area, they will be motivated to take the necessary steps learned through this focus.

We also enjoyed a free concert given on campus where all students, faculty, and staff were invited. The concert was presented by the New Life Singers of Calvary Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia. This chorale is composed of young people ages 17-24 who love to serve the Lord. We enjoyed their singing, musical instruments, testimonies, and their sweet spirit. They gave us an hour of patriotic and sacred songs that glorified the Lord. On a campus of 37,000 students, eighty-three does not seem like much, but we were all happy to see the eighty-three people that did come. Two of these eighty-three expressed a desire to know more about God.

There is always someone on campus ready to listen to the Word and we are grateful for the freedom to share His love with these students.
