Testimony for Ryan Forkey
Before I became a Born-Again Christian, As far as I was concerned I was going to be in heaven when I died. When I was 11 years old I “asked Jesus in my heart” on an Easter Sunday and had a “feeling of happiness” because Jesus died on the cross for me.
15 years later by the grace of God through a biblical teaching I was shown the light of God through His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. I came to the horrific knowledge that lusting after a woman in your mind is the same as committing adultery in Gods eyes and taking His name in vain by using it to express disgust (a cuss word) or using it lightly angers God greatly and He will not hold anyone guiltless who commits this sin called “Blasphemy”. I realized that I was guilty as charged before God’s Holy Law and that my sentence would be eternal conscious punishment in Hell. No matter what I thought and prayed I had done to be forgiven of sin, I realized that I had daily broken God’s Law by those standards and If I died that night I would be going to Hell.
My conscience became so stirred when I realized how exceedingly sinful I was toward a Just and Holy God who gave me life and that all my life I had rebelled against him through a life of a hypocrite that claimed to be a Christian but through my thought-life and lifestyle I had denied God all my life and was storing up wrath on the day of judgment. I had experienced a false conversion of Christianity.
It was in that moment of humility and brokenness that what I had heard all my life then made perfect since through the grace and love of an Almighty God:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16
It is only through God’s Son, Jesus Christ, that we are able to become reconciled to a Holy God. He took our deserved punishment by dying on the Cross for us and then rose from the dead to defeat the curse of our sinful nature. If you repent of your sin before God and turn from it and follow with full faith and trust in Jesus Christ, God’s wrath will be withheld, and you will die to yourself in sin, and be “born” into the family of the Almighty God and ushered into eternal life with Him. Read the Bible daily and obey what you read… God will never let you down.
