Testimony for Yi

My name is Yi (not real name), I was born in a small town in Hunan, China. I grew up with success after success, from elementary school to college, to work, as a doctor in a big hospital in province capitol. Then I formed a happy family. Everything was very satisfying. I often think it’s due to my good fortune. Only today did I realize that everything is God’s grace toward me! Thanks be to God!

Before arriving in US, I am utterly materialistic, don’t know God, neither believing in God. Even though I’ve heard about or seen about sentences containing ‘Lord Jesus’, but it just merely knowing that He is about Christianity, nothing more. Several years ago by accident I found a Bible. Out of curiosity I read several pages, but found it hard to understand, so I didn’t continue reading it; didn’t know at all that it is the Word of God.

But God is so merciful, He didn’t blame me, nor criticize me, instead, with His love and power He gave me chance to know him, make me willing to follow Him.

In September 2006 my wife came to the States as a visiting scholar. I and my son followed her to Iowa City. After arriving at Iowa, I attended an English class, held by Faith Baptist Church. During the process by learning English, my teacher Elva told me lots about the life of Jesus, told me that Jesus died for us to save us. Meanwhile I have time to go to the Chinese church and do Bible study with the brothers and sisters in the church. Then little by little I leaned to pray, started to like daily reading of the Bible, begin to understand my sinful nature, and acknowledge that only Lord Jesus could save me. In Sept. 12, 2007 I attend Elva’s English Class. God planned that I would be the only one there that day. We talked about God, Jesus & how He died to save us from all our sins. She asked me if I wanted to trust Christ now and said I could pray in Chinese. I wanted my sins forgiven. I would like to invite Him to be my life’s Savior! I did that and asked God to accept me as His child.

Thank you God!
